Our Lovely Team

Diânne

Manager & Owner of The Village Nursery School

I established the Nursery in 1997 with a very simple vision: To create an environment that my own children would be happy in. My three children assure me that I have! I have many fond memories of my own childhood in rural Northumberland which gave me my love of the outdoors, plus lots of fun activities which I try to include in the Nursery curriculum. I have brought my family up in Weybridge where they attended local schools and I share with them my passion for all things – Squash!

I absolutely love working in early years for the freedom it gives the children to learn at their own pace and in a manner that suits them individually! I've been at The Village Nursery School since 2019 and our combined approach of child initiated & adult led play means that no two days are the same, making every day full of very exciting learning opportunities for both the children and adults alike!

  • Organisational Behaviour - BA Hons

SENCO

I moved to London in 2000 to study Art History and Cultural Studies after having fallen in love with the city. Back in Germany I enjoyed running a nature group for children, heading into the forest on a weekly basis! More recently, I have worked at a local primary school initially as a midday supervisor and after school club staff. I also supported a child with special educational needs in Reception. I love the buzzing atmosphere and the whirlwind that exists in an early years class room!

After degrees in Fine Art and English I worked for Waterstones as a children’s book buyer. From there it seemed a natural step to do a teaching postgrad, and become a primary school teacher. I worked for many years in London in both the state and private sector as head of a variety of departments. After having my own children and moving to Weybridge I started working at the nursery, and am loving the fresh air and fun of early years teaching!

Having arrived in UK from South Africa 30 years ago, I have enjoyed working with children in nursing, nannying and schools; seeing children flourish and bloom independently from one milestone to another,  continues to be an inspiring and rewarding  journey. Where better to enhance all this than being surrounded by Whiteley Village forest as our extended classroom, right on our doorstep.   In my free time I can be found blending in with my garden as well as  enjoying the company of a pet-sitting menagerie, walking, cycling and 'armchair travelling'  with  music , books, theatre & old school radio.
