About us

About us

The Village Nursery School was established in 1997 and our reputation has grown amongst parents and schools alike, testament to which is the number of siblings we have had the privilege of teaching.

We strive to create a relaxed, trusting, and caring atmosphere where children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships, and grow in confidence and independence.

We have a wonderful team of teachers, the majority of whom are mothers themselves. We operate a key-teacher system for each child, with a high ratio of teachers to children. This ensures that your child’s individual skills are encouraged and specific needs are addressed throughout the curriculum ensuring that all the children reach their Ofsted early learning outcomes.

We use the online learning journal Tapestry to capture each child’s learning journey. Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences, development and learning journey through their early years. We provide daily observations via photos, videos and comments and parents and carers are able to view their child’s progress, the activities provided for them, and how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments.

Learning & development

Our activities are carefully planned so that by the time the children are ready to enter primary schools each child has experienced 7 areas of learning and development. 3 Prime Areas are learnt first. These are:

1. Communication and Language
2. Physical Development
3. Personal, Social & Emotional Development

Your child’s future learning

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:

4. Literacy;
5 Mathematics;
6. Understanding the world; and
7. Expressive arts and design
